Meet Ricky Brockwell

From a childhood marked by trauma to a life transformed by grace, Ricky Brockwell is a living testament to the healing power of vulnerability, forgiveness, and faith.

Born to a teenage mother and emotionally and physically abandoned by both parents at a young age, Ricky endured years of sexual, emotional, and physical abuse—experiences that left deep scars and led to a long battle with depression, PTSD, and heartbreak. He carried hatred in his heart toward his father, whose actions caused immense pain and brokenness. Betrayed by trusted ministry friends and silenced by the stigma surrounding mental health in the church, Ricky spent years suffering in silence, often confined to his bed by the weight of depression.

Yet, even in the darkest valleys, God was working. Ricky found solace in music and ministry, joining a Christian singing group that toured nationally for over eight years. Sharing stages with renowned artists like Jeremy Camp, The Crabb Family, and Avalon, Ricky ministered to thousands—all while fighting his own internal battles. Numbing the pain with alcohol behind the scenes.

A turning point came during a retreat in the mountains of North Carolina, where God revealed the deep unforgiveness in Ricky’s heart and how it was affecting his physical and emotional health. That moment marked the beginning of true healing. Ricky forgave his father after his sudden death, and in doing so, discovered a freedom in Jesus that changed everything.

Now a Certified Facilitator with Living Waters Ministry, Ricky is on a mission to help others heal from the wounds they’re too afraid to speak about. He is especially passionate about reaching those sitting in church every Sunday, silently suffering and wondering if something is wrong with them. Through his story, Ricky offers hope and healing to the brokenhearted.

His upcoming debut book,  Victory in Vulnerability  (releasing late 2025), chronicles his journey from pain to purpose, and his calling to help others find restoration through God’s redeeming love.

Ricky lives in Greenville, South Carolina, with his wife Heather and their son Landon. Through writing, speaking, teaching and music, he continues to share a message of hope, healing, and the freedom found in forgiveness and total surrender.
